Your people together,
on friends and family photo walls.
Put the people you love, family and friends, on a photo of your own room in the frames you would buy. Add photos straight from your phone, move them until the wall feels right, then hang it once.

Candids and portraits,
one calm set
School portraits, wedding shots and phone candids won't match. Convert them all to black and white, or one warm tone, and they read as one set. Portraits take the bigger frames; candids fill the small ones.
A wall for
the people you chose
Flatmates, the wedding party, the holiday crowd, the five-a-side team. A friends photo wall belongs where you pass it daily: the hallway, the kitchen, the landing. Group by trip or era.

Check the photo
before you print it
Most phone photos print well at every size on this page. Copies forwarded over WhatsApp are smaller files and go soft sooner.
Where to get them
printed and framed
Order the anchor first and size the rest against it. Use matt paper on a wall that catches window light; gloss shows every fingerprint. Hold one frame before you buy seven.

How to hang a family photo wall: the planner does the maths

01
How many photos should a family photo wall have?
Five to nine, and let the furniture decide: the finished wall should span 66 to 75% of the sofa, bed or console below it. Leave two or three spaces for photos you haven't taken yet.
02
What size frames suit a family picture wall?
One anchor at 16x20 in (40x50 cm) for the photo that matters most, then 11x14 in (28x35 cm) and 8x10 in (20x25 cm) for the rest. Two or three sizes is plenty; more and the frames compete with the faces.
03
How high should a family photo wall be?
Centre the whole group 57 in (145 cm) above the floor, at eye level. Keep the lowest frame 6 to 8 in (15 to 20 cm) above a sofa back, or 8 to 12 in (20 to 30 cm) above a headboard. Most people hang too high.
04
How much space should you leave between frames?
Leave 2 to 3 in (5 to 7.5 cm) between frames and keep that gap the same across the wall. Your photos already vary in age, light and colour; the even gap is what makes them read as one set.
Height changes by room,
so pick yours first

Staircase
Centre each frame 57 in (145 cm) above its step. Grandparents at the bottom, newest arrival at the top.

Hallway
Hang one row of same-size frames, centred 57 to 60 in (145 to 152 cm). Guests see it first, so mix in friends.
